The Write Retreat: Creative Nourishment (includes optional yoga)

How do you nourish your creative self? The Write Retreat is a place and a space to write, connect with other writers, and experience wellness for body, mind, and spirit. For the body, gentle mindful movement and breath practice; for the mind, guided meditation, writing exercises, creative discussion, participation; and for the spirit, sharing your work with one another, deep listening, giving and receiving feedback. Designed with the creative in mind, I invite you to a relaxing day-long retreat that involves writing, yoga, meditation, and a chance to reset and reenergize. If you are looking for the time and focus to engage in the craft of writing and share your work with others, this is the workshop for you.

Meet Your Instructors:

Lindsey Costard is a 200-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher, as well as a certified teacher of ESL. She brings her connection to words and language into her classes as a Trauma-Informed teacher. Lindsey has taught a variety of yoga styles, but most recently is teaching accessible Chair Yoga to seniors, as well as Mindfulness and Meditation to children, her own included! As a person with a history of childhood trauma, Lindsey seeks to bring awareness to the difficulties we experience in adulthood when our traumatic memories go unresolved, and strives to help others find self-compassion, self-love and healing through yoga.

Adelle Purdham is a writer, teacher and parent disability advocate. She holds an MFA in Creative Nonfiction Writing from The University of King’s College and is a qualified French teacher. Her book, I Don’t Do Disability And Other Lies I’ve Told Myself, was published with Dundurn Press in fall 2024. Her poetry and prose appear in literary anthologies, magazines, literary journals, newspapers and online. Adelle’s essays are finalists in several literary contests, including: The Writer’s Union of Canada’s Short Prose Competition, EVENT Magazine and The Fiddlehead’s 2022 Creative Nonfiction Contests. Adelle is founder of The Write Retreat where she facilitates workshops for women writers to create. She lives and writes in her hometown, Peterborough/Nogojiwanong, the traditional territory of the Mississauga First Nations. Visit her online: www.adellepurdham.ca

Please note: Coffee, tea, and light snacks will be available throughout the day, along with a lunch. All will be included in the cost of the workshop.
