The Art of Tarot
This course is designed to introduce participants to the art of Tarot card reading, offering an engaging and accessible entry point for those new to the practice. Over the course of this workshop, students will learn the foundational aspects of Tarot, including the meanings of numerology, the Major and Minor Arcana, basic card spreads, and how to develop intuitive reading techniques. By the end of the session, participants will feel confident in conducting simple readings for themselves and others, using Tarot as a tool for self-reflection, guidance, and personal growth.
The workshop will be hands-on, encouraging participants to practice interpreting cards in real-time, both individually and in pairs or small groups. Tarot card decks will be provided but attendees are welcome to bring their own. Whether you're curious about Tarot for spiritual exploration or simply looking for a fun, enriching activity, this course will offer valuable insights and the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals.
In addition to learning the basics of Tarot, this workshop will emphasize developing a personal connection with the cards. Participants will explore ways to interpret the symbolism and imagery unique to each deck, encouraging them to trust their intuition in readings. We’ll also discuss the history and cultural significance of Tarot, debunking common myths and misconceptions. By combining practical skills with a deeper understanding of Tarot’s origins, attendees will gain both the knowledge and confidence to incorporate Tarot into their own daily practices or continue their learning journey with more advanced techniques.
Note: *Students must bring their own Tarot deck (not an Oracle deck), pen, and writing paper or journal to make notes in.
If you plan on buying a new Tarot deck for the course and would like some suggestions on which ones to purchase, please email continuingeducation@trentu.ca for a list of options from the instructor.
