This course is a continuance from ASL level 1-A. This course covers Unit 3 in the Signing Naturally Level 1 Curriculum workbook.

Week 1: July 6

This week lesson covers:

o  Review ASL 1-A dialogues

o  Identifying People

o  Telling Where One Lives

Week 2: July 13

This week lesson covers:

o  Giving Commands: Locations

o  Fingerspelling: Moving Letter Z

-        Comprehension of the GUM story

-        Discuss about ASL classifiers

 

Week 3: July 20

Lesson this week covers:

o  Discussing One's Residence

o  Giving Basic Directions

o  Cardinal Numbers 30-66

-        Practice time given for retelling the GUM story

 

Week 4: July 27

Lesson for this week covers:

o  Talking About Roommates and Pets

o  Identifying Which Square 1

o  Giving Directions: Expressing Needs

-        Practice time given for retelling the GUM story

 

Week 5: August 3

Lesson for this week covers:

o  Fingerspelling: DOWN letters

o  Telling How Long

o  Identifying Which Square 2

o  Travelling to school or work  

-        Practice time given for retelling the GUM story

 

Week 6: August 10

Lesson for this week covers:

o  Wrap up lessons

o  Activity: Asking What Is the Sign

o  Activities to review all the signs learned

-        Practice time given for retelling the GUM story

-        Practice time given for the ASL dialogue test

 

Week 7: August 17

Practice time given for the ASL dialogue test

-        Submit your GUM story video assignment (worth 10%)


Week 8: August 24

Soft evaluation test of ASL dialogue – expressive skills (20%)

- 10 mins per partner, assessed by the ASL Instructor (confidential)

- Grade of 50% and up can advance to ASL level 2.
